Portfolio Update! Building Some Cash

Building Cash into Earnings Season

Quick Update for Members: Portfolio Changes!

In Friday's video, recorded during the meat of a stock market battering, I announced that I'd be selling two of our portfolio holdings. I closed the positions at yesterday's close. Ironically, only one of the positions was among the vast majority of consumer-facing stocks to close higher during Monday's rally.

Portfolio at Thursday's Close (Slide from the Friday video):

As mentioned in the video, I wanted to prune a disappointing name in Starbucks and Chewy, which I think has run its course in terms of outperforming, given where I think the market is now. I still think $SBUX and $CHWY are "fine" for investors. I'm shooting a bit higher than that in terms of what we're trying to accomplish here.

New Portfolio:

Taking the proceeds from selling Starbucks and Chewy and adding them to the existing cash balance of $723 gives me a new cash total of $20,553.39. Here are the balances as of Tuesday morning, August 5th:

The markets are fast, August is choppy and we're heading into retail earnings season. Don't expect the cash to stick around for long. I'll have a breakdown of potential investments and video musing for Members Only later this week.
